Bookmarks are the hardest thing to move: a new machine, a reinstall or a new phone and you are hunting for your usual sites again. Sign in and bookmarks bind to your account, so any device you sign into has the same set.
What syncs
Bookmarks, passwords and browser settings sync by default. History and open tabs are off by default and can be enabled individually in sync settings.

How conflicts resolve
When several devices edit at once, the most recent change wins. Deletions sync too, and anything removed by accident can be restored from the bookmark recycle bin.

Besides cloud sync, bookmarks can be exported as an HTML file that imports directly into other browsers — useful for offline backup or migration.

FAQ
Can I use it without signing in?
Yes, but bookmarks then live only on this machine and are lost on reinstall or when switching devices. Signing in is recommended.
Can anyone else see my synced data?
Synced data is encrypted in transit and at rest and can only be decrypted with your account. Passwords use a separate key — see the security whitepaper.
