The address bar is not only for URLs. It can search, calculate, show the weather and jump straight into a site search with a short keyword. Setting these up saves a lot of typing.
Changing the default engine
In Settings → Search you pick the default engine. Typing a keyword and pressing enter uses it; a keyword prefix lets you pick another engine for one query.

Address bar suggestions
Suggestions combine history, bookmarks and search suggestions. To remove one entry from suggestions, press Delete on it or delete it from history.

My URL was treated as a search — why?
Input without a dot or protocol prefix is treated as a keyword. Type the full domain (for example example.com) to go there directly.
Can I turn off address bar suggestions?
Yes. Search suggestions, history suggestions and trending recommendations each have their own switch in search settings.
